Yakutsk to Sochi to Yakutsk aircraft encounters hailstorm and rainfall during journey

In an exciting turn of events, the first direct flight from Yakutsk to Sochi, operated by the local airline iFLY, successfully landed yesterday despite encountering rain and hail upon arrival in Yakutsk.

At the helm of the Airbus A-330 was Konstantin Polyakov, a seasoned commander with over 20 years of experience in civil aviation. For Polyakov, this was not only his first flight to Yakutsk but also the second time he had passed through a water arch in his career.

As the Airbus A-330, known for its passenger capacity and long-range capability, passed under the water cannons of Yakutsk Airport, a brief rainstorm with hail began. This unexpected weather phenomenon is considered a good omen in aviation circles.

The wind subsided shortly after, allowing the aircraft to land on time. There was a momentary concern due to a sudden increase in wind, which could have potentially diverted the aircraft to Khabarovsk. However, the skilled piloting of Konstantin Polyakov ensured a safe and timely landing.

The Airbus A-330, with a capacity to accommodate 378 passengers and a flight duration of up to 12 hours, was making its debut flight for iFLY airline. This historic flight marks a significant step forward in connecting the remote region of Yakutsk with the rest of Russia.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, the inaugural flight from Yakutsk to Sochi and back was a resounding success. The passengers disembarked safely, and the crew received warm applause for their professional handling of the situation.

As iFLY continues to expand its operations, passengers can look forward to more comfortable and efficient travel experiences between Yakutsk and other destinations.
