Yakutia's Medical Pioneer Tamara Petrova Passes Away at 75
Tamara Fedotovna Petrova, a pioneering figure in Yakutia's medical history, has passed away. Aged 75, she left an indelible mark as the first Sakha woman to achieve the highest qualification in forensic medicine.
Tamara's journey began in Yakutsk, where she graduated with honors from School No.2 in 1966. Her academic prowess led her to Yakutsk State University, from which she graduated with honors again in 1972, this time from the medical faculty. She then pursued a clinical internship at the university, specializing in forensic medicine from 1972 to 1974.
Tamara's professional career took off in 1974 when she joined the Republican Bureau of Forensic Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Yakut ASSR. Here, she served with distinction until 1985, introducing numerous innovations and mentoring younger colleagues. Her work was recognized with the 'Excellent in Healthcare of the Republic of Sakha' badge for her long, flawless service. Tamara's expertise often helped exonerate the innocent, restoring justice in many cases.
