Wuppertal Launches 'Tal Heroes' Initiative for Sustainable Waste Management

Wuppertal's 'Tal Heroes' initiative launches on September 15, 2025. Residents can join by registering at smart.wuppertal.de and downloading the Tal Heroes app. The project, focusing on six neighborhoods, encourages sustainable waste separation through gamification.

The initiative targets residents aged 18 and above, or families with one adult per household. Participants need a smartphone, internet access, and a compost bin. The Tal Heroes app provides guidance on composting and recycling.

The project, led by the Competence Center Smart City, is part of the 'Smart Waste Tal' project. It's supported by AWG Wuppertal, Circular Valley, and the Wuppertal Institute. For eight weeks, participants can earn the title of 'Tal Hero' and win prizes like zoo or Wuppertal SV vouchers. A waste management vehicle will inspect compost bins in the test neighborhoods for quality.

The 'Tal Heroes' initiative begins in Wuppertal on September 15, 2025. It aims to promote sustainable waste management through gamification and education. Residents can register and participate by following the guidelines on the smart.wuppertal.de website.
