The Bassins de Lumières, located in Bordeaux, France, is a remarkable digital art center housed in a repurposed WWII German submarine base. Operated by the Parisian art collective Culturespaces, it is the world's largest digital art center, boasting a 360° projection surface covering an area of 13,000 m2.

The site's architectural prowess is evident in its massive concrete roof, 9 meters thick, designed to withstand aerial attacks during WWII. The art center utilizes this colossal structure, along with the concrete walls and expansive interior surfaces, as projection canvases for immersive digital art exhibitions, turning them into large-scale animated displays.

The space also features shallow water features on the floor, creating reflective surfaces that enhance the projection effects and overall immersive experience. The shows combine moving visual projections with curated soundtracks to create fully immersive audiovisual experiences.

The center hosts rotating exhibitions every few weeks, ensuring a diverse visitor experience. Beginning February 11, 2022, a new immersive exhibition exploring the artistic and architectural treasures of Venice will be available. The "Citerne" exhibition, a highlight of the center, features works by artists such as Gustav Klimt and Paul Klee, accompanied by trombone sounds and music by Wagner, Beethoven, Mahler, Rachmaninoff, and Puccini.

The "Citerne" exhibition is equipped with 80 actively driven, network-controlled CAL loudspeakers from Meyer Sound, providing a directional sound experience, and 30 Kinetic media servers from Modulo-Pi, ensuring the harmonious playout of the content.

The Bassins de Lumières has garnered industry recognition, winning the prestigious Sinus-Systems Integration Award in 20XX. The award is considered one of the most prestigious in the field of audiovisual installation.

The center operates daily, with entry costing approximately 15 euros per adult. Due to its popularity and limited capacity, booking in advance is encouraged. The Bassins de Lumières offers a unique and captivating digital art experience that combines historic WWII architecture with advanced digital projection technology and sound design.
