WellCare Kentucky Honors 2025 Community Health Champions

WellCare of Kentucky has announced the winners of its sixth annual Community Health Champions Awards. The event, held at Churchill Downs, honored individuals and organizations that have significantly improved health outcomes and supported community well-being across Kentucky.

Karyleen Irizarry of River Valley Behavioral Health was named the winner for Region 2. Olivia Raley of the Bardstown Police Department took the prize for Region 3, while Cameron Levis from Bowling Green Parks and Recreation won for Region 4. Dianne Owen of the West Kentucky Educational Cooperative was awarded for Region 1.

SUN Behavioral Health in Erlanger was recognized as the 2025 Community Health Champion in Behavioral Health. The organization specializes in mental health and substance use disorders, providing services on school campuses through partnerships with local school districts. Their innovative strategies have reduced state hospital transfers, coordinated with the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services, and eased emergency department burdens.

Each regional winner received a $3,000 grant, while the statewide winner, Dr. Kayla Williams, received $5,000.

WellCare of Kentucky's Community Health Champions Awards continue to recognize and support those making a difference in Kentucky's health and well-being. The winners' efforts in their respective regions are expected to have a significant impact on the state's overall health outcomes.
