In Croatia, the federal court has ruled that beach areas are generally part of the free landscape, giving citizens the right to access them without a general entrance fee [1]. However, costs associated with beach visits primarily come from renting sun loungers and umbrellas, which can be quite expensive during the summer peak season.

For instance, in the popular city of Dubrovnik, sun loungers can cost around €50 per day or even up to €58 each, depending on the beach and facilities offered [2]. On public beaches, you can bring your own towel and avoid these charges, but space may be limited, and services may be sparse.

In other areas, prices for beach amenities like deck chairs are around €10 to €25 per day [4]. Entry to specific protected coastal or park areas, such as some national parks, may involve a small entrance or ferry fee, around €10 to €12, but this is not the usual case for general beach access [5].

Overall, while many Croatian beaches offer free access, expect to pay from around €10 up to €50 or more for renting sunbeds and umbrellas during the busy summer months, especially in popular tourist spots like Dubrovnik [2][4]. There isn’t a uniform entrance fee charged just to enter beaches themselves.

Interestingly, a 2017 lawsuit in the Lower Saxony North Sea beach was initiated by citizens who opposed access restrictions to a specific beach area [6]. The court's ruling in this lawsuit set guidelines for beach access rights in the country.

It's worth noting that some beaches in Croatia do charge up to 120 euros for entrance, but these instances are not common.

In contrast, Spain is known for having the most affordable beach spots overall. The Playa de Las Canteras on Gran Canaria, the Kleopatra Beach in Alanya, and the Playa de La Concha in the Basque Country are among the top affordable beach spots in Europe [3].

As always, it's essential to research and plan ahead to ensure a enjoyable and cost-effective beach experience in Croatia or any other destination.
