Velbert Re-elects Mayor Lukrafka, Kanschat Secures Strong Green Vote
In the municipal election for Velbert's mayor, Dr. Esther Kanschat of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen challenged the incumbent Dirk Lukrafka. The election committee has confirmed the final result, mirroring the preliminary count from the runoff held on September 28th.
Dr. Esther Kanschat secured a significant 38.83% of the vote, putting up a strong fight against the current officeholder. However, Dirk Lukrafka, representing the CDU, retained his position with a majority of 61.17%.
The city of Velbert has thus elected to continue under the leadership of Mayor Lukrafka for another term.
