Upper Austria's camping industry is buzzing with anticipation for the 2025 season, following a record-breaking year in 2022. Guests from the Netherlands, Germany, and the Czech Republic are among those flocking to the region's campgrounds, drawn by the unique blend of nature, cuisine, and leisure activities.
In 2022, Upper Austria welcomed over 510,000 overnight stays at its campgrounds, marking a record year with a 2.6% increase. The camping industry in the region generates an impressive 149 euros in value creation per day. Camping enthusiasts are particularly attracted to the combination of natural surroundings, culinary delights, and leisure activities.
The region is set to expand its camping offerings with new campgrounds planned for Hinterstoder, Schärding, and Natternbach by 2025. One such addition, the 'Neuer Campingplatz mit Restaurantbetrieb' in Hinterstoder, opened its doors in May 2025, further boosting the region's camping scene.
