Turkey's Eskişehir Nursery Boosts Sapling Production to 9M After Devastating Fires
Eskişehir Forest Nursery in Turkey has ramped up its sapling production in response to last summer's devastating forest fires. The nursery, which cultivates over 200 tree species, is now producing 112 million seedlings to help restore burned areas across the country.
The nursery's increased output is a direct response to the unprecedented number of fires this year. Turkey recorded 1,351 fires, leading the General Directorate of Forestry to boost production significantly. The saplings grown in Eskişehir are primarily sent to provinces hit hardest by the fires, including Bursa, Bolu, Bilecik, and Muğla.
Last year, the nursery produced 3 million saplings. This year, it aims to produce a staggering 9 million, demonstrating a significant commitment to Turkey's forest rehabilitation efforts.
Eskişehir Forest Nursery's increased sapling production is a crucial step in Turkey's post-fire recovery. The nursery's efforts will help restore burned areas and promote the growth of diverse tree species across affected provinces.
