Turkey has been making concerted efforts to attract Chinese travelers, and a recent promotional program organised by the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) aimed to do just that. The program, under the Far East Projects, took place in Istanbul and Cappadocia.

During the program, the guests had the opportunity to meet with China's ambassador to Türkiye. They embarked on a fascinating journey, visiting some of Turkey's most iconic landmarks. In Istanbul, they explored Hagia Sophia, Sultanahmet Mosque, the Basilica Cistern, Topkapı Palace, St. Anthony of Padua Church, Çiçek Pasajı, and Narmanlı Han. They also toured İstiklal Avenue, enjoyed a private Bosphorus boat tour, and participated in a mosaic lamp workshop.

The cultural exploration continued in Cappadocia, where participants discovered the Kaymaklı Underground City and Göreme Open-Air Museum. They joined pottery workshops, experienced horseback riding in Love Valley at sunset, watched the sunrise from a hot air balloon, and enjoyed a traditional Turkish breakfast. The program coincided with the Nevşehir Culture Route Festival, adding an extra layer of cultural immersion.

The Chinese Folk Arts Exhibition was opened during the program, providing a glimpse into Turkey's rich cultural heritage. The travel experiences of the content creators were shared on major Chinese platforms like Douyin, Bilibili, RED, Weibo, and WeChat, reaching a wide audience and promoting Turkey as a must-visit destination.

Starting Oct. 26, Turkish Airlines will increase its China flights to 31 per week, with 10 flights to Beijing, 11 to Shanghai, and 10 to Guangzhou. This increased connectivity is expected to further boost tourist arrivals from China.

Engagement data from these platforms will be reported by the TGA, providing valuable insights into the impact of the program on Chinese travelers' perceptions of Turkey. The program is a testament to Turkey's commitment to fostering cultural exchange and promoting tourism, particularly with China.
