Truck Falls Through Ice on Lena River: Winter Driving Warning

A cargo truck carrying coal has fallen through the ice on the Lena River near Kangalassy - Sottinzy. The incident occurred on Sunday, February 11, highlighting the dangers of winter driving in the region.

The GKB 'UprAvtotodor RS(YA)' has reminded drivers that there is an official winter road 'Borogon' with a capacity of up to 30 tons in this direction. However, the truck driver chose an unauthorized crossing, disregarding safety guidelines.

When driving on ice crossings, safety measures must be followed. These include maintaining a speed not exceeding 20 km/h, avoiding sudden jerks or braking, and keeping a safe distance of at least 50-70 meters between vehicles moving in the same direction.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with winter driving. Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution, follow all safety measures, and use designated official winter roads to ensure their safety and that of others.
