Ski Area Silbersattel needs to be adapted for summer usage - The Silver Saddle's ski resort will be prepared for the summer season.

The city of Steinach, located in the Sonneberg district of Thuringia, is gearing up for the upcoming winter season with a series of improvements at the Silver Saddle Ski Arena. Following the takeover of the ski arena from Thuringia Alpin GmbH last year, the new management is focusing on enhancing family-friendly attractions and services.

Udo Bätz, the mayor of Steinach, has announced plans to make the ski arena more accessible and enjoyable for families with children. These plans include expanding beginner-friendly slopes and ski areas suitable for children and novice skiers, developing dedicated kids' play zones and safe learning spaces, introducing ski schools and courses specifically tailored for children and families, and improving family-oriented facilities such as warming huts, rest areas, and easy access amenities.

In addition, the city is organizing seasonal events and activities targeted at families and children to create a welcoming atmosphere. The aim is to position Silver Saddle Ski Arena as a top destination for family winter recreation in the region, building on its natural appeal and enhancing the overall experience for visitors of all ages.

However, Bätz has revealed that it will take at least until 2027 to fully implement these plans for the ski arena. In the meantime, the city will remain the operator of Silver Saddle Ski Arena at least for the next season, and the long-term solution is currently being discussed.

One immediate improvement for the 2022-2023 winter season is the installation of a new chairlift on the slope, and renovation work on the ski runs has already commenced. A new piste at Silver Saddle Ski Arena has also been planned for next year.

Furthermore, the parking lot at Silver Saddle Ski Arena will be expanded this year, and there are plans for more family-oriented activities on the mountain in the future, with ideas such as playgrounds and marble runs being considered.

Last winter, the slopes in Steinach were prepared with artificial snow about 90 percent of the time due to mild winters posing a challenge for Thuringian ski areas for several years. Despite this, the city is hopeful that the summer season will generate the necessary revenue to maintain winter operations.

In an effort to attract more summer visitors, the Silver Saddle Ski Arena is also aiming to become a popular destination during the warmer months. Mountain bike trails at Silver Saddle Ski Arena will be repaired and partly rebuilt to cater to this growing demand.

Bätz is confident that there will be a suitable applicant for the service provider roles such as cash register and ski rental, ensuring a smooth operation for the upcoming winter season. With these improvements and the continued support of the community, the Silver Saddle Ski Arena in Steinach is set to offer an unforgettable winter experience for families and visitors of all ages.

Community aid will be essential to fund the infrastructure improvements at the Silver Saddle Ski Arena, such as the new chairlift, renovation work on the ski runs, and expansion of the parking lot.

Vocational training programs can be organized for local residents who are interested in working at the ski arena, offering positions like cashier and ski rental attendant.

The family-friendly activities at Silver Saddle Ski Arena extend beyond winter, with mountain bike trails being repaired and partly rebuilt to cater to visitors during the summer months.

During the 2022-2023 winter season, families can enjoy additional entertainment options on the mountain, like playgrounds and marble runs, as part of the city's efforts to enhance the overall experience at the Silver Saddle Ski Arena.

Furthermore, the expansion of beginner-friendly slopes and the development of dedicated kids' play zones and safe learning spaces will cater to the lifestyle and family-oriented needs of visitors, making Silver Saddle Ski Arena a premier destination for both winter recreation and summer activities in the region.

Additionally, as fashion and beauty, food and drink, home and garden, and travel industries continue to grow, Silver Saddle Ski Arena could collaborate with local vendors and businesses to create pop-up shops and events to further attract visitors to the area, offering diverse experiences that cater to a wide range of preferences and interests.

Lastly, with the upcoming season's weather forecasts looking promising, the city of Steinach is optimistic about the successful operation and fruition of its plans for Silver Saddle Ski Arena, providing an unforgettable experience for all visitors.
