The Camping and Caravanning Club withdraws participation from the NEC Exhibition
In a surprising turn of events, the Camping and Caravanning Club will not be participating in the upcoming Motorhome & Caravan Show and the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in October 2021 and February 2022, respectively. The reasons behind this decision remain undisclosed, as no official statements have been made to explain the club's absence.
Despite the lack of information, the NEC shows are set to be bustling events, showcasing the latest releases from leading manufacturers, such as Xplore's XC range of tourers and Bailey's Alicanto Deluxe range, which were unveiled at last year's shows. Visitors can also browse a wide range of accessories, including caravan awnings, kitchen equipment, and tour-enhancing gadgets.
The absence of the Camping and Caravanning Club, a regular fixture at all NEC shows for several years, is particularly noticeable given that the club had sizable stands at both shows, complete with mini-theatres where experts could give presentations. This year, however, the club is focusing its efforts on building excitement and buzz around its 125th anniversary, which it is heading into.
Peter Baber, the Reviews Editor of Practical Motorhome and our website, has been reporting on the motorhome industry for over a decade. His first caravan reviews date back to the early 1990s, and he has twice been shortlisted for a Caravan Writers Guild award. When not working, Baber enjoys writing novels, cooking, throwing the odd pot, and has just taken up tennis.
In light of the Camping and Caravanning Club's decision, fans of the club can look forward to the club's 125th anniversary celebrations, but the club has remained tight-lipped about the exact details of what is planned. Rest assured, however, that Baber will be on hand to report on all the new models that make it to dealer forecourts each season.
Whether you're a seasoned camper or a novice, the NEC shows are a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of motorhomes and caravans, and to discover the latest innovations in the industry. So, mark your calendars for the Motorhome & Caravan Show from 14 to 19 October 2021 and the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show from 17 to 22 February 2022 at the NEC.
