Thai Culture Takes Over Guangzhou: Muay Thai Roadshow Kicks Off

A vibrant celebration of Thai culture took over Liwan district in Guangzhou on Friday, as the Muay Thai Roadshow kicked off. The event, organised by the Royal Thai Consulate General, recreated the bustling atmosphere of a Bangkok night market, complete with Thai street food and traditional crafts.

The highlight of the event was a demonstration by world-renowned Muay Thai champion Buakaw Banchamek. He showcased signature moves from the UNESCO-recognised intangible cultural heritage of Thailand. The roadshow has previously delighted audiences in Xi'an, Xiamen, and Nanning.

Participants also had the chance to learn Muay Thai techniques firsthand in a workshop led by professional fighters. The event is part of the festivities marking the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations.

The Muay Thai Roadshow in Guangzhou brought the spirit of Thailand to China, combining cultural exchange with exciting martial arts displays. The next stop on the roadshow is yet to be announced.
