Teen Facing Trial for Defaming Police in Primorye

An 18-year-old resident of Khankaysky District in Primorye is set to face trial for defaming police officers. The incident occurred in September 2025, when the girl, not publicly named, recorded a conversation with police and spread the recordings on a popular messaging platform.

The girl's actions stemmed from an earlier incident in September 2025. She witnessed a car hitting a dog and subsequently accused the police of receiving a bribe. Her motivation was to draw public attention to the case of the dog by exploiting the sensitive topic of corruption among law enforcement officers. However, her methods have led her to be charged under Part 5 of Article 128.1 of the RF Criminal Code.

The teenager's actions are punishable by a fine, compulsory or corrective labor, or imprisonment up to five years. Her trial will determine the exact penalties she may face.
