Summer Rail Journey to the Black Sea: 2025 Program Initiated by CFR Călători in Romania

Get Ready to Ride the Sun Trains!

Hop on board the CFR Călători's Trenurile Soarelui (Sun Trains), kicking off from June 14 this summer! This program will link up major Romanian cities with the enchanting Black Sea resorts, offering 54 direct trains during the season, with 32 extra summer services for the increasing holiday crowd.

Traveling through September 6/7, cities like Oradea, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Timișoara, Craiova, and Bucharest will connect with popular beach spots, such as Constanta and Mangalia, via 16 extra trains each day, as promised by CFR.

Oh, and Bucharest ain't missin' out here. The capital city will enjoy frequent service on the Bucharest Nord-Constanta route, with departures every one to two hours. The travel time clocks in at a breezy 2 hours and 7 minutes on InterCity trains and a slightly longer 2 hours and 30 minutes on InterRegio services.

Feeling adventurous? Don't miss out on the Trenul Tineretului (Youth Train)! This bad boy runs nightly from Sibiu to Mangalia, via Râmnicu Vâlcea, Pitești, and Bucharest Nord. The IR 1912 departs Sibiu at 6:38 p.m., sweeps through Bucharest during the wee hours, and reaches Constanta at 6:11 a.m., wrapping things up in Mangalia by 7:59 a.m.

Danube Delta enthusiasts, put your hands up! Seasonal connections are available to get you there. Direct Regio trains from Constanta to Tulcea Oraș, along with connections via Medgidia, will grant you easy access to this magical region all summer long.

CFR promises a modern travel experience with their summer InterRegio trains. You'll find air-conditioned cars, power outlets, eco-friendly toilets, and semi-automatic doors to make your journey extra comfortable. Long-distance routes will even feature sleeping coaches.

Get ready for modernized InterCity trains, funded through Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), operating on popular routes like Brasov-Bucharest-Constanta, with the Alstom Coradia Strem serving the seaside line daily starting June 1.

Ticket prices for second-class seats between Bucharest and Constanta start at RON 43.50 for Regio trains, RON 82.50 for InterRegio, and RON 94.00 for InterCity. Pro tip: Booking in advance can nab you discounts of up to 10%, and round-trip offers are also up for grabs.

Grab your tickets through multiple channels: online at Cfrcalatori.ro, via the "CFR Călători bilete online" mobile app, from ticket machines at stations, or directly from CFR ticket offices and travel agencies.

Now jump aboard the Sun Trains, let the good times roll, and make some unforgettable memories! 🌞 Rail adventures, here we come!
