Düsseldorf, Germany - The much-anticipated summer holiday program for children and young people in Düsseldorf is set to return this year, offering a range of activities designed to provide fun, creativity, and social interaction while adhering to coronavirus safety guidelines.

Organised by the Youth Office (Jugendamt) in collaboration with free carriers like youth welfare organisations and local youth associations, the program aims to cater to around 3,500 participants, similar to last year's numbers.

Participation costs for the holiday program are 35 euros per week and child, or 17 euros per week and child for Düsseldorf pass holders. Registrations will be possible from June 12, 10 am, with the respective carriers of the measure, except for the central "Düsseldorfchen" program which can only be booked online at www.duesselfeien.info/.

The holiday program consists of one-, two-, or three-week offers in small and fixed groups, daily from 9 am to 4 pm. Activities include sports, exercise, art, media, adventures, and creativity. Young participants can engage in parcourse offered by the Evangelical Youth in Düsseldorf and play knightly games as part of the common program.

The Düsseldorf adventure playgrounds will offer special programs this year, focusing on activities like hammering, sawing, digging, building booths, dealing with animals, and nature experiences. The sports action bus of the city sports association will provide highlights such as archery, a football camp, volleyball, and other sports for the holiday program.

City Director Burkhard Hintzsche has expressed gratitude to the free carriers and youth associations for organising the summer holiday program. He emphasised the importance of providing safe, supervised leisure activities free or at low cost to support families and promote social participation despite pandemic restrictions.

Participants will be tested or required to present a corresponding certificate due to the current situation. Information about the holiday program can be found at the youth center zeTT at the main station (phone 8922033).
