Schoolyard Activity Features Stargazing and Impromptu Dance Performance

The Backnang Summer Night Cinema has made its debut this year, transforming the courtyard of the Schickhardt Realschule into an enchanting open-air cinema. This cinematic event will run until Tuesday, August 12, promising a series of memorable film evenings under the open sky.

Carolin Roth, the theater manager at the Traumpalast Backnang, revealed that logistical reasons and the more central location were the deciding factors for the change of location. The cinema enthusiasts from the Traumpalast have moved the cinema to the city's schoolyard, creating a unique atmosphere for moviegoers.

The premiere evening was a special one, as nine women from Aspach, Rillinghausen, and Kirchberg, who graduated from Schickhardt Realschule in 2000, joined the audience. They combined the cinema evening with a trip down memory lane, as the event took place in the schoolyard they once attended.

The series kicked off with Carolin Herfurth's "Wunderschön", and will continue with "How to Train Your Dragon" on Saturday. Sunday will feature "The Nickname", a comedy by Sonke Wortmann. On Monday, audiences can expect a thrilling experience with "Konklave". The legendary dance film "Dirty Dancing" will close the series on Tuesday.

The courtyard is illuminated with strings of lights, and a five by ten meter large AirScreen has been set up, turning the space into a perfect venue for a cinematic experience. The duo who previously attended an open-air cinema in Ludwigsburg Castle found the Backnang cinema more comfortable and worth supporting.

The audience laughed and cried together, making the cinema experience enjoyable, as per Roth's expectations. Edwin Rapp and Claus Salzer attended the cinema, initially fearing they would be the only men among women playing main roles in the film. However, they found the event to be a pleasant surprise.

Carolin Roth, the Backnang theater director, expressed satisfaction with the premiere of the Summer Night Cinema in the school courtyard. The second edition of the Backnang Summer Night Cinema is looking forward to more film evenings under the open sky, with a finale on Tuesday featuring 'Dirty Dancing' and Patrick Swayze.
