Sakha's young women emerge victorious in an international competition held in China
The Yakutian dance school "Sardana", based in Yakutsk, made a remarkable debut on the international stage at the "Friendship-2024" competition held in Udalyanci, China, on May 12. Led by Natalya Yakovleva, the school brought home the first-degree laureate title and cups from the competition.
Representing Yakutsk, the dance school showcased the beauty of Yakutian dance to over 500 participants from cities such as Novosibirsk, Birobidzhan, Khabarovsk, Yakutsk, and China itself. Their performances, 'Oronchikaan' and 'Imaana', were met with praise and admiration, with Natalya Yakovleva expressing pride in their achievement on their Telegram channel.
During their five-day stay in China, the children from the dance school had a memorable experience. They visited excursions, museums, temples, and even enjoyed swimming in a pool. The highlight of their trip was a warm and friendly meeting with Chinese students who welcomed them like stars. The Chinese students held master classes, showed a tea ceremony, and even competed in football with the Yakutian children.
The Yakutian dance school "Sardana" received support from the charitable foundation "Klad Yakuzii" during their participation in the "Friendship-2024" competition. The foundation, under the presidency of Zoya Pavlovskaya, provided essential assistance to the participants from Yakutsk. However, there is limited public information available about Zoya Pavlovskaya's background or activities.
Natalya Yakovleva, the director of the dance school, concluded that the school will continue to participate in festivals and competitions at home and abroad. This promising dance school is undoubtedly a shining example of Yakutsk's cultural heritage and a beacon of hope for future international performances.
