Dramatic school stage to the glamor of Hollywood: Salimou Thiam soars high - Rising from the school stage to the glamorous world of Hollywood, Salimou Thiam embarks on a career journey.
In an exciting turn of events, 19-year-old actor Salimou Thiam has secured his first appearance in a feature film, joining the star-studded cast of "The Hunger Games." The dystopian trilogy, adapted from the novels by American author Suzanne Collins, is set to hit theaters in November 2026.
Thiam is best known to children for his role as Ben, the BMX rider and rapper, in the teen spin-off of the RTL soap opera "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten." His project "Uferpark," which aired on RTL+ and the children's channel Toggo, has also made him a recognizable figure, especially among younger audiences.
For "The Hunger Games," Thiam will play the introverted Clayton from District 9. The filming for this highly anticipated production is currently underway in Spain, with additional scenes being shot in Bavaria. Thiam is also filming an episode for the RTL+ crime series "Behringer and the Dead" in Bavaria.
The casting director, Jacqueline Rietz, describes Thiam as a "young, exciting actor." Despite sending a video with only twelve seconds due to a time crunch, Thiam was invited to the next round of the casting and landed the role. Thiam's open and confident demeanor, coupled with his talent, no doubt played a significant role in his successful audition.
Thiam's acting career began in school theater, where he landed his first leading role. Inspired by a musical he saw in Hamburg, Thiam decided to pursue acting professionally. His move to Berlin, due to his increasing work there, is imminent, but he still has a short film shoot scheduled in Bielefeld with local city theater actors.
As the filming for "The Hunger Games" continues, fans eagerly anticipate the young actor's debut alongside stars like Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, and Jesse Plemons. The historical fortress of Sparrenburg in Bielefeld, with its grandeur and imposing structure, could provide a suitable motif for a Hollywood blockbuster like "The Hunger Games."
This exciting development in Thiam's career is a testament to his talent and determination. As he embarks on this new journey, fans and critics alike are eager to see what the future holds for this promising young actor.
