Welcome to the Chill AF House of Worship in Oppenheim's Rhine Valley**! This royal Gothic cathedral, nestled above the Rhine, offers a thrilling experience like no other. As we celebrate its 800th birthday, it's time to embark on a journey through chills, history, and remarkable architecture.

Fancy a little spook? The nearby Michaelskapelle and Bone House hold about 20,000 of our town's oldest residents, dating back from 1400 to 1750. It's the largest and best-preserved ossuary in Germany, where bones from the local citizenry were relocated during new burials to create space in the small cemetery.

On Pentecost Monday, we're hosting an Ecumenical Festival Service to honor not just our 800-year-old church but also the city's 800 years of rights! Art historians believe the construction began around the 13th century. This monumental structure – with its unique architecture and stunning facade – still leaves onlookers in awe.

Step back in time to the early days of the church as you admire the west towers. It was only later renovations and additions that gave our church its world-renowned Gothic style, making it one of the most important Gothic churches on the Rhine between Strasbourg and Cologne.

There's more! Check out the unique inscription on the wall, showcasing the size of bread and its price in 1317. And, of course, don't miss the Oppenheim Roses – two elaborate tracery windows on the south facade – that have put us on the map!

The church transformed from Catholic to Protestant in the 16th century, with several damages following, but extensive renovations in the 19th century and later in the 1930s gave it a new life. The building was quickly rediscovered as a magnificent masterpiece of Gothic architecture.

Oppenheim, Rhine Valley, Germany, Chills, and History – make it a part of your bucket list and experience a piece of spiritual and cultural history!
