Reopened for winter: Five-star Red Sea hotel, artfully hewn from desert rocks in Saudi Arabia, once more welcomes guests

After undergoing renovations and maintenance this summer, Desert Rock Resort has reopened its doors to the public. Located along Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coastline, this music-inspired resort offers next-level service in a breathtaking setting.

The Welcome Experience

Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a stunning welcome pavilion and friendly staff. The resort's commitment to providing an unforgettable experience is evident from the very beginning.

Accommodation and Dining

Desert Rock offers a variety of accommodations, with the family staying in Sabah, a two-bedroom villa at the highest point. The villa boasts a king-size bed, two queen beds, a spacious living-dining area, and a large two-tiered terrace with family games.

The resort's dining options are equally impressive. Basalt serves Peruvian cuisine for lunch and modern Indian cuisine for dinner, while Nyra offers Turkish fusion recipes and inventive mocktails. Highchairs and children's menus are available throughout the resort's venues, with options ranging from classic choices such as pizza, pasta, and burgers to healthier picks such as salad, soup, and grilled chicken.

Activities and Facilities

Desert Rock offers a plethora of activities and facilities to keep guests entertained. The resort's large communal wadi pool and private pools are popular with children, and the children's club offers various activities, including a raft of sustainable wooden STEM toys, a large TV screen, a shaded outdoor playground, and mini electric vehicles for little ones.

For those seeking relaxation, the spa features a maze of treatment rooms and facilities, including experience showers, saunas, steam rooms, hammams, and a vitality pool with cold plunge. The 60-minute signature Moonlight Meteorite massage, which uses a mixture of techniques and stretches a la Thai massage style, is a must-try.

Adventure seekers will be delighted by the desert games, adventure activities, and experiences such as e-biking, stargazing, and Saudi cooking classes. The resort also has outdoor and indoor yoga pavilions, with aerial yoga sessions and Hatha classes led by in-house instructor Sofia.

Sustainability and Accessibility

Desert Rock follows a regenerative tourism ethos, designed to blend in with natural surroundings and respect indigenous flora and fauna. The resort is wheelchair accessible, with all hotel amenities, including the pool, children's club, boardroom, and spa, accessible to guests with mobility issues. Villas are equipped with grab rails, roll-in showers with integrated seating, and lowered deadbolts and viewports on villa doors.

In Nyra, staff offer Paw Patrol-themed coloring books and pencils for children, adding a touch of fun to the dining experience.

Pricing and Check-in/Check-out Information

Rates for a one-bedroom Wadi Villa start from $1,866 (Dh6,850) per night, including breakfast. Check-in time is at 3pm, and check-out is at noon.

While the head chef of the kitchen at the Signature restaurant Nyra remains unnamed, the culinary offerings at Desert Rock are highly regarded, promising a memorable dining experience for all guests.
