Putin Praises Trump, Blair at Valdai Club Meeting
Russian President Vladimir Putin recently shared insights into his international relationships at the Valdai Discussion Club's 22nd Annual Meeting in Sochi. He praised U.S. President Donald Trump and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, while also discussing the forum's history and theme.
Putin, participating in the plenary session, reflected on his interactions with world leaders. He described Trump as a 'comfortable interlocutor', highlighting his ability to listen. The two leaders last met in Alaska, where they focused on the Ukrainian conflict.
Putin also recalled a personal moment with former British PM Tony Blair. He remembered spending the night at Blair's house and having breakfast together in their pajamas. Putin praised Blair as an experienced politician 'with his own views'.
The Valdai Club, established in 2004, has held its annual forum on the shores of Lake Valdai since its inception. This year's event, themed 'A Polycentric World: Instructions for Use', took place from September 29 to October 2 in Sochi. Putin's positive working relationship with French President Emmanuel Macron was also noted.
