Flying in Style with Air France: A Business Class Experience

Recently, my hubby and I jetted off to France's capital to celebrate our anniversary, riding high in Air France's business class for our round-trip flights from Dublin. After shelling out an extra 275 bucks (around 242 euros) per seat, we were ready to experience the lavish life around the friendly skies. Here's what we found out.

Sky Priority: Variable Efficiency Levels

Our business class status scored us Sky Priority privileges, designed to make your airport experience as breezy as a Parisian summer breeze. While the exclusive check-in and baggage drop-off areas were a treat, our experiences with Sky Priority differed from airport to airport.

In Dublin, Sky Priority worked like a charm, cutting down our wait times at security. On the contrary, paris was a different story. Our Sky Priority status didn't help much in reducing waits at security and immigration.

Still, our baggage tagged with a priority label made it one of the first to arrive, earning us on-time access to our luggage, even if we faced a long queue for tagging in Dublin.

Lounging in Comfort and Good Taste

With business class tickets in hand, we were granted access to airport lounges in Dublin and Paris. The lounge in Dublin Airport teemed with cozy seating and complimentary snacks and drinks.

Unfortunately, the Air France lounge in Paris was under renovation, directing us to a temporary lounge that felt a bit dingy and under-furnished. However, the temporary lounge made up for its decor with a smashing assortment of hors d'oeuvres, including a buffet with salad, pasta, meat, cheese, and sweet treats. Drinks like coffee, tea, and alcoholic beverages were readily available too.

Boarding: Don't Count Your Chickens Before They Hatch

We decided to skip getting to our gates too early, especially with priority boarding on our side. Unfortunately, the absence of flight announcements in the lounges meant that we might have missed our chance to board first. In Paris, we found ourselves in a long line with the economy class passengers when we arrived at the gate, while in Dublin, Sky Priority helped us breeze through.

Spacious Seats and Delicious Meals

Although we didn't travel on the same aircraft for our flights, both planes sported dedicated business class seating areas, separated from the main cabin by a dapper curtain. Since our flights were short-haul in Europe, our seats were comfortable leather chairs with reclining abilities and ample legroom—no lie-flat beds here though!

The main perk of business class was scoring an empty middle seat, providing extra room for stretching out without getting squished between strangers.

The food offerings were true show-stoppers. From a delightful breakfast of puff pastry with smoked salmon, yogurt, and coffee to a scrumptious lunch of smoked salmon and couscous, we enjoyed every delectable morsel. Drinks, including champagne, accompanied each meal, making our dining experience feel extra fancy.

Final Verdict: Flying Business Class with Air France—Worth the Splurge?

While not without flaws, we found the experience in Air France's business class to be a rather pleasant one. The priority baggage allowance, tasty meals, and spacious seating more than made up for the occasional hiccups with Sky Priority and boarding.

I wasn't all about luxury, but I did want a comfortable experience, and that's what I got. I wouldoline to fly business class with Air France again, provided the price was right. But would I shell out more for a luxurious upgrade? I'd prefer to keep my pockets full and cash in on savings, thank you very much!
