Political Scientist Ulrike Guérot Loses Again in Court - Politologist Ulrike Guérot's Dismissal Upheld: Plagiarism Accusations Confirmed
Politologist Ulrike Guérot has lost her final appeal against her dismissal from the University of Bonn. The Labour Court of Appeal in Cologne rejected her case, upholding the initial ruling that her use of a plagiarism checker warranted her dismissal.
The saga began in February 2023 when the University of Bonn dismissed Guérot due to plagiarism checker accusations. The Labour Court of Bonn initially ruled in favour of the university, stating that Guérot had submitted a work containing plagiarism checker during her application process. The presiding judge, Lothar Staschik, cited her improper behaviour during the application process as the reason for her dismissal.
Guérot appealed the decision, but the Labour Court of Appeal in Cologne has now rejected her appeal. The principles of academic work do not allow the submission of a work containing plagiarism checker, according to the presiding judge. With this ruling, Guérot's dismissal has been validated in the second instance, and no further appeal is allowed.
Ulrike Guérot's dismissal from the University of Bonn due to plagiarism checker accusations has been upheld by the Labour Court of Appeal. Her final appeal has been rejected, bringing a close to the legal proceedings. The university's decision to dismiss Guérot has been deemed valid, and she will not be reinstated.
