**"The Sizzling Summer of Rec Ball®"

Game 7 Victory: 15-10

Standings: 5-2

The not-so-good: Junior dominated the mound, giving up an astounding 7 runs in his longest outing yet. Did I mention he was hittable like a piñata? Line drives ricocheted off the infield, leaving me with a severe case of whiplash. Bottom line: he's not meant for the Home Run Derby. The problem is, when opponents get into a groove against him, it feels like batting practice.

The decent: On the bright side, Junior managed to strike out all the batters. His accuracy improved significantly since his previous outing. Now, we just need to work on adding some oomph to his pitches. He's showing signs of experimenting with that, but it's just not consistent yet. At least it wasn't a walkathon.

Junior's buddy, Kramer, who's grappling with a thumb injury, stepped up to provide us with two solid innings before handing the ball over to our closer. The closer has already struck out two batters for two saves this season. Daddy Ball Report®: Junior went 4-for-4 with three singles, a double, and 5 RBIs. With 23 RBI in 7 games, it's safe to say he's on fire at the plate.

One thing that makes me proudest about Junior is his skills with the glove. In the 5th inning, playing at shortstop, he made an exceptional backhand catch on a scorching one-hopper. He showed remarkable composure, securing the ball, and sending it waist-high to first base for the first out of the inning. His ability to control chaotic situations defensively is a game-changer.

In the 6th, with a runner on base, my closer—who sometimes struggles with control—was on the mound. Junior stepped up, catching a line drive on a shoestring, quickly tagging out the runner who had tried to steal second. A double play saved the game. Order was restored. The next batter hit a weak grounder in front of the plate, my catcher, with exceptional reflexes, snatched the ball, tossed it to first base, and the game was over.

9th inning flew by, ending the game at 9:55 PM. Thank you, baseball gods, for your sense of timing.

Side Notes:- We've proven that our team can win without Maddux in the lineup, which is significant psychologically. Now, we take a rest to prepare for the biggest battle yet against that faux travel team we defeated earlier in the season. They're sitting at 6-1.- Yep, Maddux will be pitching in the upcoming game. He didn't pitch against them in the first matchup.- Kramer, the lad with a thumb injury, has been unstoppable at the plate. Although he's no longer catching, his bat has been on fire.- A player who hasn't swung at a pitch all season suddenly took a whack at one last night. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a strikeout, but at least he swung. The swing was, dare I say, impressive.- 8:15 PM first pitches on Wednesday nights are brutal for those of us who pre-game with work.

Today's a Double Celebration: Mrs. Screencaps and I Mark our 15th Wedding Anniversary

Life Lessons and Perspectives:1. Working together in the same house takes a balance of patience and understanding. With breakfast, lunch, and dinner—plus regular check-ins—we're in each other's space every day. It's crucial to practice tolerance and respect.2. There are drawbacks to working in the same house, but there's comfort in knowing she's always there for dinner. No need to worry about traffic delays.3. Volunteer to water the plants on the sunny side of the yard, especially in the evenings.4. Ladies, we give you the keys to the house design. Let us have our man cave or basement as a tribute to our childhood bedrooms. As a bonus, there's a John Daly-autographed pack of Marlboros on the wall but don't worry, it's pop art. Winks.5. Fifteen years slip away faster than some of us would like. Be mindful of time and cherish the moments.6. We're fortunate to have two boys who appreciate our guidance, get along well with friends, and maintain good grades. They help keep the craziness at bay.7. Parenting is expensive, but what else was I gonna spend the money on? Cars that can't move mulch or clean the pool?8. We picked this house for a lifetime. We were skeptical about affording the mortgage back in the winter of 2010, but things have a way of working out. We might not be able to remove ourselves from it ever, unless something drastic happens.9. Let her have her plant addiction. It softens the blow of my golf/guys' golf trip addiction.

Screencaps Readers Continue to Respond to No-Mow May Asshole Tyler, who Refuses to Admit that he'd Be Fine Living Next to a Dumpster in Order to Save the Bees

  • Rob in Florida chimes in:

Good morning, let's call a spade a spade, these people are sprouting up everywhere. Here's how to spot them:

1. Look out for the "In This House..." sign in their yard, it's the new "Please excuse the weeds, I'm feeding the Bees" sign. This is a real sign I've seen in the neighborhood near a Douche's overgrown yard. It's the worst-looking property on the block, including the Subaru parked in the driveway with the " == " bumper sticker.

2. Spot a Subaru in the Driveway.

3. If you happen to visit their Facebook page, it looks like you'd expect: nothing but Pride posts and how "Every Trans person they know is caring, kind and deserving of love and respect". I have a friend whose wife's page looks just like that. I feel sorry for him.

4. Birkenstocks. Need I say more?

Those people are simple to spot if you know how. They compensate for their physical and emotional shortcomings. The good news is, they don't reproduce much because it's difficult for them to find a partner. Tyler, please do us a favor and move on. For the love of God, mow your lawn.

- Chris A. shares his story:

My son rented an apartment in the basement of a house near his job. The house upstairs has a sloppy tenant who's supposedly taking care of the lawn instead of the elderly property owner. The lawn is a mess: he mows around removable items like chairs and trampolines, never weeds the flowerbeds, and doesn't know what a weed whacker is. I don’t think he's mowed the lawn at all this season. The yard clearly needs professional maintenance. My son is considering mowing the lawn himself to show the tenant how it's done. He said he's willing to make it his responsibility if he starts.

I'm really proud of my boy. He understands the importance of maintaining a property and showing consideration for his neighbors. He doesn't want to be known as the tenant living in a run-down place. He has a clover field in his lawn that serves the bees well without the grass growing too long, preventing the invasion of Heavenly trees.

Ultimately, I believe many no-mow individuals are just using environmental reasons as an excuse for laziness. They're the same people who avoid bathing regularly and never throw anything away. I'm glad my neighbors aren't no-mowers.

Kinsey:

Bingo!

They are lazy, seeking validation with their fellow lazy virtue-signaling friends.

  • Luis, a Packers fan from Apple Valley, MN, clarifies the stereotype of Venezuelans:

Don't worry, I'm not going to rant. Just a friendly correction regarding the image of Venezuelans:

Despite the chaos Brandon has caused by opening the border, not all Venezuelans are to blame. We've been in the US for a while, mostly as professionals. But, thanks to Brandon's policies, sadly, that changed. However, I'm grateful for the protection the US has provided and the kindness it has shown. Many countries would have refused us.
