Notable individuals partner with Global Sumud Flotilla en route to Gaza

The Global Sumud Flotilla, an international initiative aiming to challenge Israel's blockade on Gaza, has garnered significant support from various corners of the globe. The flotilla's departure, initially scheduled, has been postponed due to weather conditions and delays affecting the flotilla that left Barcelona.

Among the notable participants are American actress Susan Sarandon, known for her pro-Palestinian stance, and Spanish actor Eduardo Fernandez. Türkiye is represented by a large delegation of parliamentarians, activists, journalists, and artists. However, specific political figures from Türkiye who have joined the flotilla are yet to be named in the search results.

European elected officials lending their support include La France Insoumise MEP Emma Fourreau and former Barcelona mayor Ada Colau. French actress Adele Haenel has announced her participation, marking her return to public life.

The flotilla has also attracted the attention of renowned figures from other continents. Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg is among the activists on board, and Mandla Mandela, grandson of Nelson Mandela, will join the initiative.

British journalist and activist Yvonne Ridley will join the flotilla from the Libyan ship Omar al-Mukhtar, scheduled to set sail on Sept. 6. Irish actor Liam Cunningham, known for his role in "Game of Thrones," has joined the Barcelona delegation and delivered a speech condemning global indifference and the normalization of violence against children in Gaza.

More than a hundred people are expected to embark from Tunisia on Sunday for the Global Sumud Flotilla. The initiative has received strong backing from U.N. Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, who stated that the flotilla fully complies with international law.

Spanish actress Ester Exposito has voiced her support for the flotilla's mission, acknowledging potential hostility but expressing admiration for those on board. The Global Sumud Flotilla continues to gain momentum as it prepares to challenge the blockade on Gaza, with a diverse group of participants from around the world ready to make their stand.
