Jump aboard Turkey's latest. Offering an extraordinary travel experience, the specialized "Touristic Karaelmas Express" whisks passengers from the bustling capital, Ankara, straight to the enchanting Black Sea region of Zonguldak. This remarkable train journey unveils the hidden gems of Turkey's Western Black Sea area through a delightful rail adventure.

Nicknamed the "Black Diamond," the train derives its moniker from the historical mining legacy of Zonguldak. Today, the route showcases the region's lush landscapes, quaint towns, and rich cultural history, rekindling the magic of its black diamond past.

"The Touristic Karaelmas Express allows passengers to appreciate the cultural and natural wealth of the Western Black Sea," says Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, as he announced the service.

The train, operated by Turkish State Railways, boasts two dining cars, four sleeping cars, and a couchette car, accommodating up to 120 passengers comfortably.

Departing from Ankara in the evening of June 13, the inaugural journey follows a fascinating two-day round-trip itinerary.

During the odyssey to Zonguldak, the train takes a four-hour pause at the picturesque Karabük station, Yeşilyenice, allowing passengers ample time to revel in the local charm.

Zonguldak awaits guests later that day, followed by the return trip, which highlights enticing stops for sightseeing and interaction with the region's wonders: Two hours in Çerkeş, five hours in Central Çankırı, and two-and-a-half hours in the historic Kalecik district of Ankara.

Designed to inspire regional tourism and provide a leisurely, engaging journey, the express fundamentsally caters to eager wanderers, set to run periodically throughout the calendar year.

Set to depart from Ankara on selected dates, here's a sneak peek at upcoming departures: September 26, October 10, and November 14. The last journey for the season embarks from Zonguldak on November 15.

Looking beyond 2022, the train is set to make a total of eight round trips between summer and late autumn.
