Lufthansa Group has made the move to prolong the halt on flights to Israel until June 22. Their airlines will be grounded from landing at Tel Aviv airport during this period.

This decision is a direct response to the brutal actions of the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip.

The flight restrictions initially kicked off in early May, following a ballistic missile attack near Tel Aviv airport, which prompted many international carriers to halt operations to Israel13. Since then, Lufthansa and fellow airlines such as Swiss, Brussels, Austrian, Eurowings, Ita, and Lufthansa Cargo have been under the suspension.

With this extension, passengers affected by the hold can cancel or reschedule their flights without any additional charges, according to the company's announcement2.

Some airlines have already reinitiated flights to Israel or are planning to do so; however, Lufthansa Group seems to be taking a more reserved stance, reflecting their focus on safety1. The airline group has been consistently evaluating the situation in the region and has already previously extended the suspension through June 8, highlighting their careful approach to safeguarding the well-being of travelers2.

The community policy of Lufthansa Group now includes offering passengers affected by the flight suspension to Tel Aviv flexibility in canceling or rescheduling their flights without additional charges, reflecting their emphasis on general-news and maintaining safety. This decision, made amidst ongoing political tension and security worries in the Middle East, also impacts their employment policy as all airlines under the Lufthansa Group umbrella, such as Swiss, Brussels, Austrian, Eurowings, Ita, and Lufthansa Cargo, are included in the flight suspension. Lifestyle choices and travel plans are being affected by this extended halt, and the public is encouraged to stay updated on the situation.
