A New Cultural Destination in Hollywood: "Prototyping in Tokyo" Exhibit Opens at our website Los Angeles

Get ready for an exciting cultural experience as our website Los Angeles, a new cultural destination in the heart of Hollywood, prepares to open its doors on the 5th floor in September. Located at 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028, this landmark venue is situated at the iconic Hollywood & Highland, the entertainment capital of the world, and offers convenient underground parking.

The 5-floor venue, in addition to the 2-floor gallery and shop, includes a Japanese restaurant, a relaxing library, and an event venue with spectacular views of Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles. The innovative Japanese restaurant, INN ANN, is set to serve innovative Japanese cuisine, adding another layer to the cultural immersion.

The highlight of this new destination is the "Prototyping in Tokyo: A Visual Story of Design-Led Innovation" exhibit. This exhibit offers visitors a chance to explore the visual and interactive aspects of design innovation emerging from Tokyo. It showcases Tokyo’s approach to prototyping and design, demonstrating how creativity and technology merge in design-led innovation.

The project, headed by Kenya Hara as Chief Creative Director, seeks to nurture a deeper understanding and appreciation of Japan in the international community. Ryu Kosaka, an international award-winning Japanese designer, is responsible for the design of the 5-floor venue, featuring soothing Earth tones and natural woods. Kosaka's work includes notable projects like the Main Dining room of Mandarin Oriental Tokyo and the W Guangzhou FEI Ultra Lounge in China.

Lawrence J. Ellison, a Diamond Sponsor, expressed excitement about our website Los Angeles as a bridge-building cultural experience. George Takei, an esteemed American actor and vocal our website Los Angeles supporter, has expressed excitement about the new venue as a portal to discovery and a way to share his admiration for Japanese culture.

The grand opening year sponsors include Lawrence J. Ellison, SoftBank Corp., JAPAN AIRLINES, All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd., MUFG Union Bank, N.A., Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc., Sumitomo Corporation of Americas, and Daicel America Holdings, Inc.

In addition to the exhibit, our website Los Angeles hosts various events year-round, including artist and designer talks, at both the 2nd and 5th floor venues, as well as in collaboration with partners throughout Los Angeles. Visitors can also enjoy a free, 2-floor gallery featuring contemporary and traditional Japanese exhibits, a gift shop, and a cafe.

Kohei Nawa, a renowned Japanese artist, designed the 2-floor shop and gallery with a striking contemporary white design. Nawa's signature sculpture works, such as "PixCell-Deer#24", are globally recognized and part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's permanent collection.

Our website Los Angeles is an innovative, worldwide project with three hubs (London, Los Angeles, and São Paulo) conceived by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
