Loop Unveils Shocking Health Trends of India's Workforce in First WHI Report
Loop, India's leading Group health insurance provider, has launched the Workforce Health Index (WHI), the nation's first comprehensive benchmark report on the health of working professionals in India. The report, based on extensive lab tests and surveys, reveals alarming trends in the health of India's workforce.
The WHI, designed as a decision-making tool for CFOs, CHROs, and policymakers, paints a stark picture. A staggering 34.8% of professionals in Delhi NCR show signs of liver dysfunction, while over 82% of Mumbai's workforce have HDL cholesterol below the protective level of 50 mg/dL. Additionally, 37.2% exhibit abnormal glucose metabolism, indicating early diabetes risk in their prime career years.
Sleep deprivation and stress are also significant issues. 27.3% of professionals sleep less than 6 hours nightly, with women reporting 17% higher stress levels than men. Furthermore, 36.5% of female professionals are clinically anemic, compared to a mere 8.2% of men, a 4.5x difference.
The WHI, supported by global investors like Y Combinator and Khosla Ventures, aims to track trends annually. Harpreet Singh, President, Healthcare, Loop, emphasizes that these health risks are not just personal choices but stem from systemic and workplace drivers. Mayank Kale, Co-founder & CEO of Loop, warns that India's workforce is running on 'borrowed health', threatening long-term productivity. The WHI provides measurable proof, enabling stakeholders to shape benefits and workplace design for a healthier, more productive workforce.
