Leverkusen Fire Department Handles 12 Incidents, 48 Rescue Calls on Busy Saturday

On Saturday, October 4, 2025, the Fire Department Leverkusen had a busy day, handling 12 incidents and 48 rescue service calls. Career and volunteer firefighters worked together to tackle various challenges, including a garden shed fire and weather-related incidents.

The day started with firefighters checking a triggered smoke alarm and responding to two traffic accidents on the A1 motorway. Later, a garden shed fire in Schlebusch led to the temporary closure of a nearby supermarket parking lot and smoke checks in adjacent residential buildings.

As the weather turned, the fire department faced additional challenges. Flooded streets, fallen trees, and an oil spill required their attention. They also conducted fire alarm system checks. On the same day, units from the central and West fire stations were involved in extinguishing operations at damage in the Kuppsteeg Canal. A sewer damage incident in Kuppsteeg required 20 deployment forces to secure and pump measures, affecting individual houses.

Units from Wiesdorf, Bürig, Schlebusch, Steinbüchel, Opladen, and Lüzenkirchen of the volunteer fire department were deployed alongside career firefighters. The professional units involved in the Kuppsteeg incident included those from the central and West fire stations.

The Fire Department Leverkusen can be reached via telephone (0214 7505-0, 6 to 22 hours) or email ([email protected]). Their website provides more information about their services and can be found at https://www.leverkusen.de/themen/feuerwehr/. Despite the numerous incidents, the firefighters' quick response and efficient handling ensured the safety of the city's residents.
