Leaders Recognize Palestinian State; Erdogan Pushes for Ceasefire at UN

Leaders from several nations, including France, Belgium, Monaco, the UK, Canada, Australia, and Portugal, have formally recognized a Palestinian state. This move is part of efforts to keep the two-state solution alive, encouraging other countries to follow suit. Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been vocal in his support for Palestine, addressing the UN General Assembly and meeting with US President Trump.

Erdogan's speech at the UN focused on the Gaza question, calling for a ceasefire, humanitarian access, and mechanisms to deter human rights violations. He also discussed Turkey's holistic foreign policy, interconnecting the Gaza issue with economic relations with the USA and bilateral cooperation.

In a White House meeting, Erdogan and Trump discussed defense procurement, modernization, civil aviation, energy security, and new investments. These talks aimed to enhance regional deterrence and secure supply chains. Erdogan also presented Turkey's investment ecosystem and supply chain advantages to the American business community, reinforcing its status as an investment hub.

Erdogan criticized Israel's annexation and displacement policies, warning of further 'pages of shame' if the international community fails to enforce the law. He also addressed the TASC gathering in Rockefeller Center, warning against Islamophobia and cultural racism, and setting expectations for higher religious freedom standards.

Erdogan's UN address merged moral and legal discourse, positioning Turkey as a game-changer that proposes solutions. Turkey commended countries that recognized Palestine and urged hesitant ones to act, emphasizing the world's responsibility for the Palestinian cause. Erdogan underlined the need for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital for lasting peace and fulfillment of international law. He also demanded the 'power of law' instead of the 'law of the powerful' to prevent more Gazas, genocides, and double standards.

Turkey, under President Erdogan, has been actively advocating for the Palestinian cause, pushing for recognition and action from the international community. Several countries have responded by formally recognizing Palestine, keeping the two-state solution alive. Erdogan's meetings with President Trump have also fostered cooperation and dialogue between the two nations.
