Latvian Youth Gather for 'TWO SUNS' Seminar's 60th Anniversary

The 60th anniversary of the global Latvian youth seminar '2x2' is being celebrated this year with the 'TWO SUNS' seminar, set to take place during the summer solstice. This week-long event, organized by volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, aims to bring together 18-30-year-olds with Latvian backgrounds from around the world.

The '2x2' seminar, which began in North America in 1960 to preserve the sense of national unity among exiled Latvians, has since expanded its reach. Since 2015, '2x2' camps have also been held in Latvia, with the goal of reaching young Latvians worldwide. In 2024, camps were held in Canada and Germany to connect young Latvians living outside of Latvia.

The 'TWO SUNS' seminar will be led by Dārta Apsite and Vanda Dauksta, both with extensive '2x2' experience. The program, designed by Dauksta, promises to be exciting and engaging. It will include orientations, interactive lectures, projects, games, creative events, songs, dances, and conversations throughout the week. The seminar will take place during the summer solstice, symbolizing the highest and lowest points of the sun in Latvia and Australia respectively.

The 'TWO SUNS' seminar, organized on a volunteer basis with no compensation for organizers, aims to foster new friendships, strengthen Latvian identity, and celebrate Latvian culture through singing and dancing. It is a unique opportunity for young Latvians from around the world to connect and celebrate their heritage.
