The Puppet Theater Zwickau has kicked off its new season with a splash, as visitors were given a sneak peek into an array of upcoming productions. The theme for this season is "Element Water", and it promises to be a captivating journey through the world of puppetry.

The new season will feature several exciting premieres, including "The Frog King", "The Little We", and the highly anticipated "The Wave". "The Wave" is a gripping adaptation of a youth novel classic, sure to delight audiences of all ages.

The Puppet Theater Zwickau's history dates back to the middle of the 15th century, with puppet shows already being a popular form of entertainment in the city. The first known marionette player performed at the Zwickau Cloth Hall in 1717, under the name of Johann Christian Schickhardt.

Fast forward to the present day, and the theater continues to thrive. The opening spectacle of the new season was a colourful parade through the city, setting the stage for an enchanting season of puppetry.

In addition to the main productions, various playhouses in and around Zwickau were already in operation at the beginning of the 19th century, ensuring a rich tradition of puppetry in the region.
