'Inclusive photography exhibition titled "World Unseen" officially begins in Brasov'
The World Unseen photography exhibition has made its way to Brasov, Romania, as part of its national tour, bringing a unique and accessible experience to both local and international audiences. Hosted at Olimpia - The Museum of Sport and Mountain Tourism, the exhibition runs until September 14.
This groundbreaking event is designed for visually impaired visitors, offering an inclusive, multisensory way to appreciate visual art. Advanced tactile printing technologies by Canon enable relief prints that can be physically explored, while Braille texts and audio descriptions accompany the photographs, allowing visitors to touch and hear the images as part of the experience.
The exhibition features works by some of the world's most renowned photographers, including Brent Stirton, Sebastião Salgado, Samo Vidic, Heidi Rondak, Muhammed Muheisen, and Rareș Beșliu. Notably, Rareș Beșliu is the only Romanian photographer featured in the project.
The initiative is in response to the global need for more inclusive cultural spaces, with over 2.2 billion people worldwide living with some form of visual impairment, including more than 84,000 in Romania. World Unseen aims to make photography accessible to people of all abilities, including those with visual impairments or blindness.
Entry fees for adults are RON 10, pensioners pay RON 5, and children pay RON 2 to visit the exhibition. The exhibition was developed by Canon Romania in collaboration with the "Grigore Antipa" National Museum of Natural History and the Brasov County History Museum.
Following editions in Bucharest and Iași, the exhibition continues its goal of promoting inclusion and equitable access to culture across Romania. Having debuted previously at the Antipa Museum, World Unseen was noted as the first time photographs could be both touched and heard.
While specific participation details, including the roster of photographers and ticket costs, were not disclosed in the search results, it is clear that World Unseen is a pioneering accessible photography exhibit that is not to be missed.
