Guizhou displays its stunning natural landscapes and aspirations, highlighting them in Malaysia.

In a remarkable display of strategic collaboration, the province of Guizhou, China, and Malaysia have taken significant steps to boost cooperation in the digital economy, media communication, and cultural tourism sectors.

Guizhou's digital economy has experienced unprecedented growth, contributing an impressive 45% to its economic aggregate, which surged to a staggering 2.27 trillion yuan in 2024 from 560 billion yuan in 2012. The province is home to the largest concentration of super-large data centers globally and has made significant advancements in big data, artificial intelligence, and e-commerce. These sectors have driven Guizhou’s digital transformation and high-quality development efforts, with a strong emphasis on ecological conservation and green growth.

In cultural tourism, Guizhou has been actively fostering growth by integrating digital technologies to enhance tourism experiences. The province emphasizes the balance of green development with cultural preservation and tourism expansion, creating new opportunities for sustainable tourism and rural revitalization.

The "Mystic Mountains and Rivers · Pursuing Dreams in Guizhou" Online Communication Special Event, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 4th, 2025, aimed to promote cooperation and exchange between Guizhou and Malaysia in these sectors. The event was organised by the Cyberspace Administration of Guizhou, China, and attended by various Malaysian chambers of commerce, associations, enterprises, media, young Internet influencers, the Guizhou Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia, Chinese students studying in Malaysia, and journalists from some Chinese media stationed in Malaysia.

Mr. Loo Kok Seong, Director of Tourism Malaysia, and President of the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce, expressed his admiration for Guizhou's development in the fields of big data industry, digital communication, and the integration of culture and tourism in recent years. He delivered a speech at the event, emphasizing the potential for further collaboration between the two regions.

Mr. Zhao Guoliang, Deputy Director General of the Cyberspace Administration of Guizhou, China, also gave a special presentation at the event. He highlighted Guizhou's booming digital economy and thriving cultural tourism, expressing his hope that people from both sides will grow closer and more familiar with each other, and that cooperation in various fields will continue to deepen and become more substantial.

The event, which focused on exploring future growth and joint initiatives leveraging digital technologies and cultural exchanges, was designed to deepen economic and tourism partnerships between Guizhou and Malaysia. The collaboration between the two regions signals a strategic partnership to jointly advance digital and cultural sectors, positioning both regions for future innovative growth.
