Großlüder's Nativity Scene Trail: A Global Cultural Christmas Journey
From November 29 to January 26, the historic town center of Großlüder transforms into an open-air Christmas museum, hosting the 15th edition of the Nativity Scene Trail (Krippenweg). Organised by the Natur- und Wanderfreunde Großenlüder 1992 e.V., this cultural event is freely accessible daily, with the trail lit until 10 pm.
The Krippenweg in Großlüder presents over 30 nativity scenes from around the world, each showcasing unique materials and cultural expressions. Among the highlights is the 'Engelweg', a captivating display that creates a fantasy world for children and a quiet, contemplative space for adults.
Four reflection stations are integrated into the route, encouraging visitors to ponder themes of hope, unity, and introspection. Regional wood sculptors and private lenders also contribute to the exhibition, adding a local touch. Notably, the Schnitzschule Empfertshausen from Thuringia lends premier works from the competition 'The Nativity Scene in Today's Time'. Additionally, the Lüdertalschule Großlüder participates with a project work, engaging the local culture. The Nativity Scene Trail in Großlüder offers a unique and immersive Christmas experience, combining global cultural diversity with local artistry and reflection. The event runs from November 29 to January 26, and more information can be found at www.heimatverein-grossenlueder.de.
