Global Sumud Flotilla Breaks Record, Nears Gaza Despite Israeli Warnings

The Global Sumud Flotilla, a collective of activists from over 44 countries, has reached a significant milestone in its journey to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. With more than 40 ships, the flotilla has surpassed the threshold previously reached by the 'Madleen' vessel before its interception by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). The flotilla is now less than 90 nautical miles from the Gaza Strip, drawing attention from various parties.

Activists aboard the flotilla emphasize that Israel cannot act in international waters or in waters under Palestinian jurisdiction. However, Israel claims the right to intercept such ships, citing security reasons. The Israeli government and Spain have both urged the flotilla to stop, with Spain directly asking it not to proceed.

The flotilla, led by a collective rather than a single individual or organization, carries humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip. Its mission is clear: to break the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip through a non-violent act of solidarity. Despite a night of intimidation tactics by the Israeli army, the flotilla's members remain calm and vigilant about potential actions by Israel in the coming hours.

The Global Sumud Flotilla continues its journey, having reached a significant point in its mission. With international attention and various reactions from governments, the flotilla's fate remains uncertain. Its progress will be closely watched in the coming hours.
