Transport Minister Should Rest for Now - German Transport Minister Schnieder Cancels Unity Day Appearance After Collapse
Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder has cancelled his attendance at German Unity Day celebrations on October 3. The CDU politician is recovering after suffering a circulatory collapse during a cabinet retreat in Germany.
Schnieder collapsed at the table during the retreat and was promptly taken to a nearby military hospital for treatment. Although he is now feeling better, the minister has had to cancel several appointments to rest and recover. A ministry spokesman advised that Schnieder should take a few days off to ensure a full recovery.
The cancellation of Schnieder's planned visit to the Rahmede motorway bridge in Lüdenscheid, North Rhine-Westphalia, is a result of his current health status. There is no publicly available information suggesting that Schnieder was ill prior to his collapse on October 2, 2022.
Patrick Schnieder will not attend the German Unity Day celebrations while he recovers from his recent health scare. The minister is expected to resume his duties once he has fully recovered.
