Transport Minister Should Rest for Now - German Minister Schnieder Hospitalized After Collapse, Misses Events
Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder, 57, was rushed to hospital after collapsing due to circulation problems during a cabinet meeting at Villa Borsig. He is now recovering but will miss several upcoming events in Germany.
Schnieder, who is usually a robust figure in German politics, suddenly collapsed at the meeting table, alarming his colleagues. He was swiftly taken to a nearby military hospital for treatment. Although the specific hospital remains unnamed, sources confirm he is now stable and feeling better.
The incident has led to adjustments in Schnieder's schedule. He will not attend the celebrations for German Unity Day on October 3, as initially planned. Additionally, a visit to the Rahmede motorway bridge in Lüdenscheid, North Rhine-Westphalia, has been cancelled. A ministry spokesman has advised that Schnieder should take a few days' rest to recover fully.
Schnieder's collapse has caused concern among his colleagues and the public. While he is expected to make a full recovery, his absence from public events highlights the importance of prioritising health and wellbeing, even for the busiest of ministers.
