Freilassing Police Report Surge in Illegal Activities at Border Crossings
The Federal Police Inspectorate Freilassing has reported a surge in illegal activities and violations across various border crossings and train stations under its jurisdiction. The recent incidents include attempted illegal entries, weapons and narcotics offenses, and fraud cases.
From 2-5 October, the inspectorate registered 42 attempted illegal entries. Among them was a 32-year-old Afghan man found with an expired passport and residence permit on a train from Austria. He was wanted for fraud and had an arrest warrant issued against him. Another notable case involved a 36-year-old Italian woman at Traunstein station, who was found with 2.5 grams of amphetamines and resisted arrest. This led to investigations for fraud, resisting enforcement officers, and possession of narcotics.
In a separate incident, a 25-year-old Romanian man was stopped at the Freilassing bridge with a loaded gas-powered weapon in his vehicle. He was fined 1,000 euros and allowed to continue his journey after the weapon was secured. Meanwhile, a 23-year-old German was stopped with an uninsured e-scooter and had two arrest warrants for fraud and weapons violations. He was sentenced to 170 days in prison and had an outstanding fine of 3,100 euros.
The inspectorate also dealt with a case where an Afghan man was handed over to a detention facility after failing to pay a 2,400 euro fine. Throughout these incidents, the inspectorate registered numerous violations of the Weapons and Narcotics Act.
The Federal Police Inspectorate Freilassing, responsible for 21 border crossings and 72 train stations with a staff of nearly 400, has registered a total of 85 wanted persons, including nine arrest warrants, during this period. These incidents highlight the inspectorate's commitment to maintaining public safety and enforcing the law across its jurisdiction.
