As per Schmuel Zakai, the head honcho of Israel's aviation authority, speaking to Israeli broadcaster Kan, this prolonged situation is likely to be the case for the foreseeable future [1][2][3].

Israel intends to resume civilian air traffic cautiously and gradually once the situation stabilizes. "It's a process that won't happen overnight – we're talking weeks here, not days or hours," Kan reported. Approximately tens of thousands of people are currently grappling with this travel predicament, with no flights in or out of Israel at present.

"We're in a war-like situation, and that's why we couldn't provide an earlier announcement," Zakai was quoted as saying further [4].
