Flights from Sochi to Moscow Face Temporary Suspension

According to aural announcements at Sochi Airport and updates from airline officials, four flights on Aeroflot scheduled for 11:25, 12:15, 15:50, and 16:15 on May 28th have been canceled, causing disruptions for passengers heading to Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport.

The suspension comes as a result of temporary restrictions at Sheremetyevo Airport, which have compelled Aeroflot to modify its flight schedule. This includes the cancellation and consolidation of multiple flights, as reported by Rosaviatsiya's representative Artem Korenevko on the agency's Telegram channel.

Furthermore, Rosaviatsiya has reported that delays affected flights at Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Zhukovsky, and also flights to various cities in Russia such as Vladimir, Ivanovo, Kostroma, and Yaroslavl. These changes were instigated by the implementation of the "Kover" plan, as per a statement issued by Rosaviatsiya. Although airspace restrictions were lifted at 7:15 AM, the ensuing flight schedule disruptions led to the cancellation of four return flights from Moscow to Sochi.

Previously, it was reported that Sochi-Moscow flights were subject to delays due to drone attacks. Moreover, more than 20 flights were delayed at Sochi Airport, as per "Live Kuban's" earlier reporting. It is worth noting that the drone attack threats and security measures in May 2025 led to widespread flight disruptions across various Russian airports, including Sochi and Moscow [2]. Several airport closures and over 350 flight cancellations resulted, affecting a substantial number of travelers. While no unique incident was cited on May 28th, the broader context of the disruptions during that period is likely the cause of any cancellations or delays around that time [2].

Presently, flights between Sochi and Moscow appear to be operational, though delays and reduced frequency may persist due to the lingering impact of the earlier mass cancellations [1][3].

Travelers planning on taking flights from Sochi to Moscow may encounter disruptions, as the suspension of flights on Aeroflot has been invoked due to temporary restrictions at Sheremetyevo Airport. This imposed modification in the flight schedule, including cancellations and consolidation of multiple flights, might influence the passengers' lifestyle and travel plans, particularly in relation to the unpredictable weather conditions that could arise during such flight disruptions.
