Fire Engine vs. Tram: 5 Injured in Hattingen Collision
A serious collision between a fire engine and a tram in Hattingen on October 4, 2025, left five people injured. The incident occurred at around 15:55 at the intersection of Nierenhofer Straße and Martin-Luther Straße.
The force of the impact caused the tram to partially derail, requiring cranes to put it back on track. The collision injured the 40-year-old fire engine driver, the 44-year-old tram driver, and three passengers aged 15, 17, and 86. Four of the injured were treated in nearby hospitals. Both the fire engine and the tram were towed away. The tram was cleared by around 3 am, and both road and rail traffic were reopened.
The incident resulted in five injuries and significant disruption to traffic. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
