Fiji Airways Plane Hits Bird, Circles for 2 Hours Before Safe Landing

A Fiji Airways Boeing 737-800 plane, carrying over 170 passengers, hit a bird during take-off from Christchurch Airport around 2pm today. The plane circled for two hours to burn fuel before attempting a safe landing.

The incident occurred as the plane, with the flight number FJ450, was taking off from Christchurch Airport. Despite the collision, the plane managed to stay airborne and the crew decided to circle in the air to reduce fuel weight before attempting to land. The plane successfully landed around 4.45pm, with all guests and crew on board safe.

While the identities of the flight crew are not publicly available due to privacy and security reasons, it is confirmed that all passengers and crew on Fiji Airways flight FJ450 are safe and the plane landed safely in Christchurch.
