Police recruits share their accounts: Chasing thrill and securing safety amidst potential hazards - Female police applicants share their personal histories
Two aspiring police officers, Jennifer Greb and Eva Geisbüsch, will be sworn in as police cadets in Speyer on Friday, marking the beginning of their careers in law enforcement.
For Greb and Geisbüsch, the police force is a dream job. The variety in daily life, the contact with people, and serving as helpers are aspects Greb enjoys about the police profession. The pair values teamwork highly, a crucial element in their line of work.
The three-year study program with a strong practical component appeals to Greb, allowing her to be part of the police family from day one. The program also offers a variety of tasks and areas within the police, attracting both Greb and Geisbüsch.
Greb wishes more people would approach the police for help. Unfortunately, the lack of people approaching the police for help is partly due to some citizens venting their anger about politics on the police. This unfortunate situation is something Greb and Geisbüsch express sadness over.
The police force is not immune to tragedy, and Greb is aware of the potential danger in her job. She has been aware of the risks since she was 14 or 15 years old. Despite this, the incident in Saarland does not deter Greb and Geisbüsch from their commitment to the police profession.
As part of their training, Greb and Geisbüsch have practiced handling knife attacks. The police force continues to develop and improve their behaviour after tragic events, ensuring the safety of both officers and the public.
Every day is different for Greb and Geisbüsch as police officers. It is the first time they will be seen in uniform in public, a significant moment that emphasizes the greatness of the profession. The swearing-in ceremony is a milestone in their journey, marking the start of their careers as police officers.
