Exploring Destinations for the Compact Clothing Journey (along with other excursions)
In an era where many people collect trinkets and souvenirs during their travels, one individual stands out for their unique approach. Preferring quiet activities over shopping sprees, this individual enjoys visiting local coffee shops, juice bars, restaurants, libraries, churches, yoga studios, and fitness classes when exploring new cities.
This mindful traveller has a knack for recommending the best experiences. For instance, in Salt Lake City, they highly recommend the yoga class "The Bhakti Bunch Yoga Club" for its friendly, affordable, and nourishing yoga sessions.
Upon arriving at their destination, the first order of business is unpacking. The packing list is meticulously planned, containing essentials such as underwear, sleepwear, workout clothes, cosmetics and toiletries (excluding shampoo, conditioner, and soap), a brush and flat iron, a notebook and pen, computer, phone, chargers, and earbuds. Additional clothes are packed for climate adjustments, and the list also includes glasses/sunglasses, snacks (usually apple chips and cashews).
The individual's Tiny Wardrobe Tour packing list consists of 33 items, less winter boots and coat if travelling somewhere warm. Optional items on the list include a bathing suit, kindle or book, water bottle, and thank you cards.
To make travel smoother, the individual has signed up for TSA Pre, which allows for shorter lines and avoiding the need to take shoes off, liquids out of their bag, or laptops for screening.
Walking at least 5 miles a day and using public transportation or car sharing services like Lyft, the individual avoids renting cars, especially in unfamiliar areas. This eco-conscious traveller also prioritises health, packing vitamin D and Athletic Greens for their journeys.
With a goal to visit 17 cities in 2017, following the success of the Tiny Wardrobe Tour in 2016 where they visited 16 cities, this individual's wanderlust shows no signs of slowing down. However, they do take at least a week or two to reconnect after a trip, and they work a little each day during work trips to avoid feeling overwhelmed upon return.
The individual maintains a routine, even when travelling, including writing, meditating, and sitting quietly with hands on heart in the morning. They also keep a list of trips in Evernote as a quick guide for packing, with separate lists for the Tiny Wardrobe Tour, beach trips, and warm/cool weather trips.
If packing for a trip stresses the individual out, they challenge themselves to only pack for half of the trip and make a packing list before each trip. This mindful approach to travel ensures that the individual can focus on the experiences and connections they make during their journeys, rather than being weighed down by excess baggage.
