Experience the opulence of the Belle Epoque era with a train journey through Spain on a 1930s luxury train.
Introducing the Redesigned Al Ándalus Train: A Luxurious Journey Through Spain
Get ready for an unforgettable adventure as the iconic Al Ándalus train embarks on a new journey starting in 2026. This luxury historic train in Spain will offer a blend of historical significance, cultural richness, and breathtaking landscapes, all while maintaining its Belle Epoque charm.
The Al Ándalus train, which began operating in 1985, has undergone a meticulous refurbishment, with its lounge cars dating back to 1928 and 1930. The train is now run by Renfe, the state-owned rail company, and it promises to deliver an exceptional travel experience.
The new itinerary, spanning 7 days and 6 nights, will take passengers through some of Spain's most magnificent cities and storied attractions. The journey will start or end in Madrid, expanding beyond the classic Andalusian route to include destinations in Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura regions.
The stops along the way include Aranjuez, Toledo, Cáceres, Mérida, Córdoba, Jerez, Cádiz, and Seville. For the first time, the journey will also feature new stops such as Madrid, offering a fresh perspective on Spain's history and culture.
Passengers can choose to travel from Madrid to Seville or vice versa, and the itinerary offers exclusive visits, including the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, windmills of Campo de Criptana, Roman ruins of Mérida, Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba, and an equestrian show in Jerez.
The Al Ándalus train offers two accommodation categories: Deluxe Suite and Grand Class Room. Each suite and room was built in France at the beginning of the last century for the British monarchy, and the refurbished carriages are from the 1920s and 30s.
Deluxe Suite passengers can enjoy additional perks such as all non-alcoholic beverages in the minibar free of charge, a crew service to pack and unpack bags and sort clothes, and the opening and closing of the bed upon request.
The cost per person for two sharing a Deluxe Suite on the Al Ándalus train is €7,900, while for a Grand Class room, it is €6,600. This price includes admission to all scheduled visits, all breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, unlimited water, a toilet bag with toiletries and slippers, on-board activities like live music and performances, parties in the bar, and the end-of-trip gala dinner.
Passengers on the Al Ándalus train will be greeted with a welcome drink and snack, and they will dine on dishes that exalt Spanish ingredients like olive oil, sherry wine, and Jabugo Iberian ham.
As the Al Ándalus train marks its 40th anniversary, it aims to offer a unique and immersive cultural experience, combining heritage, gastronomy, and landscapes from both southern and inland Spain, enriching the experience beyond the previous Andalusian focus. The train will run between April and October with trips of seven days and six nights.
Whether you're a history buff, a food enthusiast, or simply looking for an unforgettable travel experience, the Al Ándalus train promises to deliver. So, fasten your seatbelts and get ready for an extraordinary journey through Spain!
