Expansion of Belavia's flight services to China with two new destination cities announced

Belavia, the national airline of Belarus, is set to broaden its horizons with the introduction of several new long-haul routes to Asia. The announcement was made as reported by BelTA.

Starting October 8, the long-haul Airbus A330-200 aircraft will commence flights to the Chinese island of Hainan, specifically to the city of Sanya. The first flight to Sanya will occur on a Wednesday, with initially one flight per week. However, the number of flights to Sanya may increase during the winter schedule, and Belavia is planning to operate two flights per week to this popular destination.

In addition to Sanya, Belavia will also introduce flights to Thailand and Sri Lanka. These new routes will be facilitated by the introduction of a new long-haul aircraft at the end of September. The exact dates for Belavia's planned flights to other Chinese cities such as Shanghai and Guangzhou are not specified; however, the airline announced plans for these routes following the start of flights to Sanya on October 8, 2025. South Asia is also a focus for potential new routes by Belavia.

Passengers on the new routes to Sanya (China), Vietnam, Thailand, and Sri Lanka, with flight durations of around 10 hours, will be served a full meal twice. Belavia already provides hot meals on flights to Dubai, Tashkent, Istanbul, Delhi, and Urumqi, as well as on charter flights to Turkey, Egypt, Oman, and Qatar. During night flights to Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan, lighter options such as sandwiches or blinis with fillings are offered by Belavia.

Vladimir Barkun, Deputy General Director for Marketing and Foreign Economic Activity of Belavia, announced the airline's plans to open several new routes in China. Tickets for the initial flight to Sanya are already sold out, with an average load factor of over 80% for other flights.

As Belavia continues to expand its reach, it's clear that the airline is committed to providing quality service and comfortable travel experiences for its passengers. With appropriate menus for the new routes currently being developed, travellers can look forward to delicious meals on their journeys to these exciting destinations.
